Doctor Gabriel was born in a Colombian town called Don Matías. From a humble rural family, he migrated to Medellín, where his brilliant mind and constant effort led him to become a renowned doctor in the city. His success as an ophthalmologist and otolaryngologist led him to found one of the country’s most important healthcare centers: Clínica Medellín. Besides his passion for literature, music, and culture, Doctor Gabriel was also a skilled carpenter who enjoyed building with his own hands. He was also an excellent manager. This is how he started building houses that were highly sought after, quickly attracting buyers. In 1975, he founded the family real estate development company Marín Ramos y Compañía. In 1978, in partnership with relatives, he built the first residential building on a mountain in the Aburrá Valley, in the city of Medellín. The initial budget was limited, and the business was very risky. However, the nine apartments were successfully sold, and the project was carried out. With this start, the company began to gain recognition. Doctor Gabriel’s two of three sons joined the company; one as an engineer and the other as an architect. They began building one building at a time in a wooded area of the city. Quickly, their specialty was defined: development and construction of residential projects distinguished by their quality and good design. From the beginning, exclusivity has been in the DNA of the company for each of its projects.
A network of clients began to be created, finding in this small but successful family business an opportunity to invest their resources with total confidence. They faithfully became part of one project after another, finding an excellent return on their investment. Doing one project at a time and never doing things massively or repetitively was extremely attractive to everyone. In addition to residential projects, a good number of commercial projects and healthcare centers were also successfully developed, which to this day are quality contributions to the urban environment of the city of Medellín.
In 1999, one of Doctor Gabriel’s sons emigrated to Costa Rica, thus founding the company in Central America under the name AEISA (Architects and Engineers S.A.). The adventure began in new lands, taking on the challenge of developing and building real estate projects as completely unknown. The opportunity quickly arose to build 80 houses in a development of a prestigious private bank in the region located in the still sparsely populated area of Santa Ana. As in the beginnings of Doctor Gabriel, they also began by designing and building independent houses in different areas of the Central Valley. Later, an associative project of 12 exclusive apartments was made in the Los Laureles neighborhood of Escazú. Finally, reading the signs of the market and society clearly, residential projects of “flats” and “lofts” type apartments began to be developed, offering a housing solution for singles and young couples. Pioneers in this type of projects, we have successfully developed, among others, Santa Ana Flats, Santa Ana Lofts, 5 Lofts, Azura Flats, Bakia Flats, Arbórea Flats, 37 Dent Flats, Nest Freses, and currently Nota Escalante. In 2016, it expanded to other countries in Central America, starting with Nicaragua with its exclusive Acacia – Eco Living project.
By 2022, a new generation with experience and creativity projects new horizons. Our time presents new challenges, and with them, the company expands its services to offer comprehensive solutions, thus becoming a leading center in the development of real estate projects integrating all areas: from the design and conceptualization of projects, structuring, development, construction, marketing, and property management. The trajectory and an unblemished name are combined with innovative ways to create an important Real Estate Hub in Costa Rica.
